Mission
Union City Fire Department seeks to protect lives, property, and the environment by providing the community with prompt, skillful, and efficient emergency services; and to prevent disastrous incidents through community partnerships, awareness and education.
Our Department
While serving as Chief, I am assisted by Deputy Chiefs James Thompkins and Larry Knowles, Fire Marshall and three Battalion Chiefs. The Department is comprised of three rotating 24-hour shifts providing its citizens with 24/7 fire and medical services. Battalion Chiefs Micah Wallace, Andy Dillard and AL Waters each command a 24-hour shift and ensure the firefighters are always prepared, educated, and ready to serve. Each Battalion Chief is assisted by a Lieutenant. Each Lieutenant serves as a Station Officer and fill-in shift officer in the absence of the Battalion Chief. In addition, there are six Sergeants who, working closely with the Lieutenants, serve as Station officers in the outlying stations.
Our workforce consists of 63 full-time dedicated and professional individuals to include a Chief, Deputy Chief, Fire Marshal, EMS Coordinator, two Inspectors, Assistant Fire Marshal, Training Officer, Executive Assistant and 54 members full time members, and 6 part time Firefighters/Medics.
All of our first out engines are fully equipped as Advanced Life Support Engines. The engines are backed up by an ALS Med Unit.
