The Community Development Department is dedicated to advancing sustainability and connectivity for those who live, work and visit Union City. We encourage a strong balance of attractive and safe residential communities, vibrant commercial centers, and diverse manufacturing and employment opportunities. The Department is crucial to the City’s approach in addressing community and regional development concerns in growth management, environmental quality and planning implementation. The Community Development Department shall be responsible for the administration, interpretation, and enforcement of the City’s Zoning Ordinance, Development Regulations, and Code of Ordinances. The Department shall oversee the processing of development applications, ensure compliance with all adopted regulations, and coordinate with other departments and agencies to facilitate orderly growth and development within the city.
