MARTA Launches NextGen Bus Network and New MARTA Reach Service

(Union City, GA) – MARTA is transforming transit service across the region with the rollout of its NextGen Bus Network and the launch of MARTA Reach, a new on-demand transit service beginning March 7, 2026.

The NextGen Bus Network redesign brings smarter, faster, and more reliable service systemwide. Nearly every bus route will change as MARTA introduces simplified routes, improved frequency, coordinated transfers, and more consistent schedules throughout the week. Seventeen major corridors will feature service every 15 minutes or better, helping riders reach destinations more efficiently.

In addition to improved fixed-route service, MARTA Reach will operate in 12 designated zones, offering shared, curb-to-curb rides that connect neighborhoods to bus routes and rail lines. Riders can request trips using an app, website, or by phone, with pickups occurring within 30 minutes. The service operates seven days a week and is fully ADA accessible.

Union City residents had the opportunity to speak directly with MARTA representatives during a community meeting held February 18 at The Gathering Place, where attendees learned about upcoming route changes and how to prepare for implementation.

Several routes impacting the Union City area include:

• 184 – Buffing Road Changes
• 182 – South Fulton Parkway
• 180 – Roosevelt Highway
• 89 – Old National Highway

The NextGen Bus Network changes take effect April 18, 2026. Residents are encouraged to review route updates and explore new service options in advance.
