Community Development

The Community Development Department is dedicated to advancing sustainability and connectivity for those who live, work and visit in Union City. We encourage a strong balance of attractive and safe residential communities, vibrant commercial centers, and diverse manufacturing and employment opportunities. The Department is crucial to the City’s approach in addressing community and regional development concerns in growth management, environmental quality and planning implementation. Services are provided across five divisions. It is through the efforts of these divisions that the City’s goals and policies take shape and are implemented.
