Storm Update Fern 2026

Georgia Power continues restoration efforts following severe weather impacts across Georgia.

All wintry mix and precipitation have moved out of the state, however conditions remain icy in heavily impacted areas near Clayton, Cornelia, and Cleveland. Temperatures will remain cold statewide, with highs in the 30s in North Georgia and 40s in southern areas. Winds today may reach 15 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph.

Since Winter Storm Fern began, service has been restored to more than 70,000 customers statewide, including over 9,500 customers across the south metro area. Active crews are still working to restore power to remaining customers.

After the Storm Safety Tips:

• Treat all downed power lines as live and dangerous
• Never touch power lines or attempt to clear branches near them
• Avoid standing water where power lines may be present
• Use generators safely and never indoors
• Be cautious near chain link fences, which may carry electricity
• Slow down and move over for utility vehicles on the roadside

Severe cold is expected to continue this week. Residents are encouraged to remain weather aware and take steps to reduce energy usage. Energy-saving resources are available at GeorgiaPower.com/Save.
